I International Juan Pons Singing Competition
The Fundació Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears presents the 1st Juan Pons International Singing Competition, to be held between 14th and 19th June 2022 in the city of Palma in Mallorca.
The competition is led by Juan Pons, one of the most important operatic voices in the history of opera, and who is committed, together with the institutions that promote this event, to decisively support the young generations. To this end, the 1st Juan Pons International Singing Competition will have a top international jury, whose main objective is to promote the international careers of the winners of the competition, supporting them not only financially with the main prizes, but also with future participation in first-class international opera productions.

The registration form, together with the attached documentation, must be sent by e-mail before 1 April 2022 at 23:59 hours to the e-mail address [email protected], indicating "International Singing Competition Juan Pons - Name and surname of the participant" in the subject line. The count will be made in the next few days.
3.- How to register?
- The registration form (DOWNLOAD) duly completed, at
in *DOC, *DOCX or *PDF format (other formats are not accepted). - Scan of ID card or passport.
- A recent facial photograph in *JPG or *JPEG format.
- A CV (1 document of max. 2 pages with information on academic and artistic career), in *PDF, *DOC or *DOCX format.
- Clear and legible copy of the deposit receipt. The following must appear in the concept of the transfer: Name and surname of the participant + Juan Pons International Singing Competition;
- If the holder of the bank account ordering the payment is a person other than the candidate, it is necessary to indicate the name of the account holder in the "Remarks" section of the application form.
- The amount to be paid will be 150 euros. The costs of the transfer shall be borne by the entrant.
- The registration fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.
- Bank checks and cash deliveries will not be accepted as forms of payment.

- High resolution video containing two opera arias of the candidate's choice, as well as a zarzuela aria (optional). The conditions for the video are as follows:
- Only live videos will be accepted
- They shall be of high resolution and recent (within 2021).
- The arias must be of different titles
- Only recordings made with piano or orchestra will be accepted.
- Only two arias may be included in the video, unless the candidate chooses to include a third zarzuela.
For security reasons, the Fundació Simfònica Illes Balears does not accept attachments of the following types: .zip, .rar, .7z, .gz, .tar, .taz, .tgz or files whose sum is greater than 19MB. If it is not possible to reduce the size of attachments, services such as Wetransfer can be used.
The registration will be considered valid only when the candidate has received an official confirmation from the organisation by e-mail.
It is the candidates' responsibility to check whether all the necessary documentation for registration has reached the organisation. If no confirmation has been received two working days after sending the registration, candidates should contact the organisation (via e-mail ([email protected])).
4.- Competition Process
A pre-selection jury made up of members of the competition's on-site jury will choose between 30-40 candidates for the final phase of the competition between 14 and 19 June 2022 in Palma de Mallorca.
The participants chosen for the final phase will prepare 4 arias from different operas. The on-site final phase will be established as follows:
- 15 and 16 June: Quarter-finals where all selected candidates will be heard.
- 17 June: A maximum of 20 candidates will be selected for the semi-final stage. *Both the quarter-final and semi-final stages will be held in audition format with piano (the competition will provide the pianists for these stages).
- Competition Final 19th June: Gala with the Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears conducted by its music director, Pablo Mielgo.
- The organisers of the 1st Juan Pons International Singing Competition reserve the right to make any modifications they deem appropriate to the Rules of the competition, to the system of conducting the auditions, as well as to any other order.
- The final round will be open to the public. The quarter-final and semi-final stage will not be open to the public.
- The competitors authorise any audio, visual or audiovisual recording.
5.- RIGHTS OF THE COMPETITION
5.1. The Fundació Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears, organiser of the 1st Juan Pons International Singing Competition, will hold the rights of international use for an indefinite period of time of the photographic images and recordings by audiovisual media of any kind, for their possible reproduction, broadcasting and retransmission by radio, television or streaming, for the purposes of archiving, dissemination and promotion within the activities of the FOSIB and the 1st Juan Pons International Singing Competition.
5.2. Consequently, the entrant expressly assigns, free of charge and for an indefinite period of time, all rights to which it may be entitled for this reason.
6.- DATA PROTECTION
6.1. The processing of the personal data of the participants and winners of the 1st Juan Pons International Singing Competition is obligatory under the terms set out in these Rules. In accordance with the above, the mere participation in this competition necessarily implies the express acceptance by the person concerned of the processing of their personal data in accordance with that described in these Regulations.
6.2. In compliance with the Data Protection regulations in force in Spain, the General Data Protection Regulation (RGPD) 679/2016 and the Organic Law on Data Protection and Guarantee of Digital Rights (LOPDGDD) 3/2018, the Fundació Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears, hereinafter FOSIB, with CIF G57915274, and address at calle Vicenç Juan i Rosselló 22B, Palma de Mallorca, CP 07013 - Illes Balears - Spain, communicates the following in this matter:
-Treatment purposes.
The data of the participants will be processed in the 1st Juan Pons International Singing Competition by the FOSIB for the following purposes, which are not limited to, but not limited to, the following:
- Manage their registration and participation in this competition.
- Provide the person concerned with the necessary information to ensure that their participation complies with these Rules.
Likewise, if the interested party is the winner, their data will be processed for the following purposes:
- Publication and use of your data for promotional purposes.
6.3. Consent of the data subject to the processing. Given the obligatory nature of the content of the processing of the personal data of the person concerned, the registration and participation of the person concerned implies full express acceptance of the processing purposes indicated. Therefore, if the interested party DOES NOT CONSENT to any processing of his/her data, he/she should refrain from participating. Notwithstanding the above, at any time the interested party may exercise their rights of access, rectification, deletion / forgetting, limitation of processing, portability and opposition by writing to the address of FOSIB, calle Vicenç Juan i Rosselló 22B, Palma de Mallorca, CP 07013 - Illes Balears - Spain, accrediting their identity and indicating Data Protection in the sending. You may also raise your claims of rights before the Spanish Data Protection Agency, www.aepd.es.
6.4. Updating of data. The interested party is hereby informed that, as the holder of the data provided to FOSIB, he/she is obliged to notify FOSIB as soon as possible of any variation in the same so that the aforementioned entity may proceed to update the same. Unless FOSIB is informed to the contrary, it shall be understood that the data provided by the interested party are accurate and up to date.
6.5. Retention of data. The data shall be kept for the legally required periods or for as long as the individuals maintain their consent to their use by the entity - FOSIB may publish the image and name of the persons who have won the prize by any means of communication that FOSIB, without limitation, deems fit. To this end, by accepting the prize, the winners automatically authorise FOSIB to publish their personal details, including their image, in order to inform the other participants and the general public of the winners of the 1st Juan Pons International Singing Competition.
6.6. Legitimation of the processing. The processing of the data provided will be based on the consent granted by the participants on the basis of the previous articles of these terms and conditions.
